作為小兒外科醫生，我負責通過手術治療患有簡單和復雜小兒外科疾病的兒童，但不包括涉及大腦、心臟和骨骼的疾病。
我為新生兒到 18 歲的兒童提供諮詢。此外，我還為在產前期間診斷出有手術問題的胎兒提供產前諮詢，讓父母為出生後可能需要手術的新生兒做好準備。
我接受過常規和微創手術執行的培訓。常規手術(也稱為
大手術),涉及大切口。相反的,微創手術涉及較小的切口，可以分為腹腔鏡檢查（針對腹部疾病）、胸腔鏡檢查（針對胸部疾病）或膀胱鏡檢查（針對膀胱疾病）。鑑於微創手術的優勢，大約 90% 的手術我是通過這種方法進行。在不適合進行微創手術的情況下，如比較複雜的病情，或者是由於潛在條件不允許這種手術執行的患者（例如需要進行手術的患者呈陽性冠狀病毒檢測），都會進行常規手術。
As paediatric surgeon, I am treating children with simple and complex paediatric surgical conditions but excluding conditions involving the brain, heart and bones.
I am consulting for children from newborn up to 18 years old. In addition, I do provide antenatal counselling for surgical conditions diagnosed during the antenatal period, to prepare the parents in anticipation of the newborn who may require surgery after birth.
I am trained to perform all procedures by both conventional and minimally invasive approaches. In conventional surgery, it is an open procedure and involves large incision. On the contrary, in minimally invasive surgery, it involves smaller incisions, and is called laparoscopy (for abdominal conditions), thoracoscopy (for thoracic conditions) or cystoscopy (for urinary bladder conditions). In view of the advantages offered by minimally invasive surgery, I do perform 90% of my operations via this approach. In cases deemed not suitable for the minimally invasive approach, either by the complexity of the condition or patient with underlying condition not allowing this approach like Covid-positive patient requiring surgery, then conventional surgery is being performed.

易毅彦醫生1998年畢業於馬來亞大學。 畢業後，他在2005年完成了普通外科醫生的培訓, 考獲外科碩士學位。他並在2005年考獲得了英國愛丁堡皇家外科醫學院(MRCS)的資格。
易醫生隨後於2008年至2012年在澳大利亞墨爾本著名的皇家兒童醫院接受了小兒外科臨床和研究實習培訓。從2012年至2013年，他在澳大利亞阿德萊德婦女兒童醫院實習並鞏固了他在兒科微創手術（即腹腔鏡和胸腔鏡手術）方面的技能。他在2013年通過研究兒童頑固性慢性便秘而獲授予博士學位。他的研究工作涉及核轉運閃爍掃描（胃腸道轉運研究）和電刺激療法應用於治療兒童頑固性慢性便秘。他接受過腸道康復治療和神經調節方面的培訓，使用乾擾電流治療兒童頑固性慢性便秘，是該領域的世界領先專家之一。他於2019年7月在上海仁濟醫院肝移植精英團隊的監督培訓和指導完成實習後，也是一名訓練有素且合格的小兒肝移植外科醫生。

Dr. Yik Yee Ian graduated from University of Malaya in 1998. After graduation, he obtained and completed training as a general surgeon with acquisitions of Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, United Kingdom (MRCS) and Master of Surgery, both in 2005.
Dr. Yik subsequently underwent clinical and research fellowship training in Paediatric Surgery at the renowned Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne, Australia from 2008-2012. He spent 2012-2013 at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Adelaide, Australia to excel and consolidate his skills in paediatric minimally invasive surgery (i.e. laparoscopy and thoracoscopy). He was conferred his Ph.D. in 2013 on his research works in the roles of nuclear transit scintigraphy (gastrointestinal transit studies) and electrical stimulation therapy in managing children with intractable chronic constipation. He is trained in bowel rehabilitation and neuromodulation in treating intractable chronic constipation in children using interferential current and is one of the leading world expert in this field. He is also a trained and qualified Paediatric Liver Transplant Surgeon after he completed his attachment with the elite liver transplant team in Renji Hospital, Shanghai in July 2019.
In addition to conventional and simple neonatal and paediatric surgical procedures (e.g. hernia, hydrocele and undescended testis and etc), Dr. Yik is capable in performing both simple and complex neonatal and paediatric surgical procedures by minimally invasive approaches (i.e. laparoscopy and thoracoscopy). Common laparoscopic procedures performed are for conditions like hernia/ hydrocele, appendicitis, pyloric stenosis, malrotation of midgut, Hirschsprung disease, anorectal malformation, pelvi-ureteric junction obstruction. He has also performed many thoracoscopic procedures for conditions like empyema thoracis, diaphragmatic hernia/ eventration, congenital pulmonary airway malformation, lung sequestration, oesophageal atresia and trachea-esophageal fistula. He is the only Paediatric Surgeon experienced in doing 3D paediatric endoscopic surgeries in Malaysia with more than 150 cases performed successfully.
Other than clinical works, Dr. Yik has contributed to the training of many young paediatric surgeons for Malaysia during his years serving University of Malaya as an academic staff. He was the Head of Unit for Paediatric and Neonatal Surgery at University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) and the Chief coordinator for the Master of Paediatric Surgery from 2015-2018 . He is an active member of the Academy of Medicine Malaysia. He is also members of Malaysia Medical Association (MMA), American Neurogastroenterology and Motility Society (ANMS) and Australasian Neurogastroenterology and Motility Association (ANGMA). Academically, he has published numerous articles in paediatric surgery and interdisciplinary journals and involves in many research studies in paediatric surgery. He is invited as speaker to many international and local conferences.
